Lifeline services would not be possible without the participation of loving volunteers.

We are a growing team of dedicated individuals who provide 12 hours of support, 365 days a year.

Being a part of Lifeline means making a difference in the lives of others and enriching your own life in a nurturing and ever-learning environment.

We are looking for volunteers who will:

    • Undertake and complete our full training program
    • Fulfill shifts on a regular basis (a minimum of two 4-hour shifts a month)
    • Work within the mission, vision, and values of Lifeline
    • Possess empathetic communication and listening skills
    • Have a non-judgmental and open-minded attitude
    • Contribute to a team-working environment
    • Ensure confidentiality of our services at all times
    • Raise awareness of Lifeline by helping with outreach and community events

Volunteering with Lifeline is not for everyone. Do you think you have what it takes to lend an ear, share information and attend to someone in times of crisis? Are you looking for a way to give back to the English-speaking community in China? Do you live in Shanghai and will you be here for a while? If so, why not consider applying for an interview to become one of Lifeline’s volunteer operators?

VERY IMPORTANT:

To apply for an interview with Lifeline, be sure to read the Volunteer Information Packet first.

Volunteer Information Packet

When you are ready, use our online portal to apply. Twice a year, we conduct an intake of dedicated new volunteers to a three to four day intensive training course, plus six months of mentorship.
