Lifeline is a volunteer non-profit organization that operates an English-speaking helpline service for the community across China.

We believe that mental health is crucial to one’s well-being and cultivates a healthy lifestyle. Every individual has the right to be listened to in an anonymous and confidential environment, and thus, our helpline provides emotional support and information to all who reach out.

Lifeline is a member of Lifeline International, which comprises of 17 countries around the world, under the guidance of Lifeline Australia. Lifeline Australia has been operating nationwide since 1963.

Lifeline supports the World Health Organization’s statement:

“There is no health without mental health”

We believe talking helps and is a powerful tool when facing challenges and uncertainty.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Confidential and anonymous service is the cornerstone of Lifeline. Anything disclosed when you contact us stays strictly in the call or chat, and is not shared anywhere else.

Users of Lifeline are anonymous, as are Lifeline’s assistants. Please note that, if you are contacting us via WeChat, your profile picture and your WeChat ID are visible to our assistants. However, this information is not recorded and is kept confidential.

Everyone is welcome to contact Lifeline to talk to someone. If you are under 18, please be mindful of our duty to care for your safety. We are an anonymous and confidential service; all of our communication is confidential, except when we feel your safety is at risk, and if you give details that allow us to identify you—in order to provide further assistance where possible.
