A big thank-you to all of the talented student artists from across Shanghai that contributed powerful and expressive artworks for our 2020 student art competition, reminding us all of the importance of positive mental health, particularly in such a challenging year. The theme of the competition, which was co-sponsored by Lifeline and ELG, was Trust the Signs – Ask R U OK? Our judges – Dr. Shari Rosen, ELG’s founder and a Lifeline Advisory Board Member and Tingting Chen, ELG’s Art Therapist had a tough time choosing from the many entries!
Congratulations to our winners…
High School Category
Angel Hu, 16, Peking University Experimental School (Jiaxing)
“This work really matches the “R U OK?” theme and we like the idea that it is okay for a strong person, as represented by the tiger, to feel depressed and that we can check in with them like the rabbit does” – judges comment.
Middle School Category
Christine Li, 14, SUIS Pudong
“We like the contrast in the picture which really depicts the girl’s feeling of loneliness despite being in the crowd, yet with her inner voice saying ‘I need you’” – judges comment.
People’s Choice Award
Iris Huang, 11, YCIS Puxi
Special Mention
Joaquina Wilson, 16, Peking University Experimental School (Jiaxing)

Thank-you to Inner Mindfulness for providing mindfulness coaching classes and to ELG for offering internship opportunities to our three category winners.
